Hound Heater Testimonials

Fantastic Product Guys! Being in Georgia we don't have terribly cold winters. However, with colder temps than usual this year down here, I purchased and installed your product before Christmas in my bokykin Spaniel's House where he resides during the day while I am at work and an occasional overnight. This past week we experienced single digit temps. Curious about how well this product would perform, I mounted a remote temp sensor on Rhett's House and ran a webcam watching the thermometer while I was away all night. Watching remotely and having cameras shoot hourly the temp in his house, I was quite impressed to see that the temperature in his house maintained easily between 68 and 70 degrees while temps outside were 8 degrees. I believe I have thermostat set at 58, so between house, dog, and the hound heater, my dog is now spoiled. Let me add, his opening is only sealed with two layers of carhartt canvas as well. Thank you so much for that extra peace of mind for my little guy!
Todd. Cumming, GA.

I wanted to let you know that we bought a Hound Heater and we LOVE it!! We have a beagle that is afraid of everything but this heater has given him no fear at all. And our basset hound loves it too. It keeps our dog house at the perfect temperature no matter what the outside weather is like. Thanks for such a marvelous product!
Gina

I would like to thank you for your honest reply to my question about about my 47 cubic foot doghouse for our English Mastiff. You were right, it does a great job. We just had a pretty good cold spell here in Salt Lake with the lows in the single digits (3 degrees was the lowest). The Hound Heater is keeping the doghouse nice and toasty for our big guy (Diesel). He spends all his time in the house with us when we are home next to to a heater vent. When we kennel him for the day, he makes a mad dash to his dog house now, instead of trying to stay in the house. As you can see we also have one of those heated dog pads, which was about twice the price of the Hound Heater. I wish that I would have found out about the Hound Heater a few years ago before we bought it. But better late, then never. Thank you again for a great product.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say that the Hound Heater is working great in the 'Cat House' we built. Miss Kitty really loves having a warm place with all the cold and snow we are having.

There was a home that burn down in Wichita a few weeks ago due to the home owner using a heat lamp in the dog house. I feel very safe having the hound heater in Miss Kitty's house. I don't worry about her burning herself of the risk of fire.

We built Missy Kitty's home out of 3/4" plywood. I had some wood laminate flooring left over and we used that to line the inside of the house. The my boyfriend had some siding that we put on the outside of the house. The house has an entrance hallway that leads into the living area. We put the hound heater on the inside wall, running the cord thru the wall and then up along the roof area. The roof is a lid that opens to allow us access to the house. We used insulation tape around the lid to help insulation. We used heavy Plexiglas for a window. So the house is very well insulated, per your comments and instructions. We placed a rug and Miss Kitty's flense throw in the house. Miss Kitty has a warm, comfortable place to stay.

Please note that I do have a dog door for the pets. I foster dogs and Miss Kitty doesn't feel comfortable around my 16 yo foster Sheltie. Miss Kitty has a very small meow and doesn't hiss at all. She runs away from any confrontation. She will not come in the house when she feels that the 16 year old, 80% blind, deaf dog is around (you go figure) so being able to have a warm place where she can be safe means a lot to me.

Again, Thanks for making such a great product - Dee

I received the new heater yesterday. I can't thank you enough as last night was one of our coldest nights. I have attached a pic of one of my labs that was thankfully warm last night due to your generosity and kindness.
Thanks again,Marla

Just wanted to let you know that my HH arrived, and we installed it with no problem, and it really works! The cats like it too. They are a couple of strays in our neighborhood which we would love to take in, but for the 2 we already have. Anyways, its huge for me to know that these outdoor guys have a place to get warm and sleep. We feed them in the house too.
Thanks, Sandy

Thanks so much for your response!! We got the unit installed last night and it is awesome!!! Our dog absolutely loves his new heated dog house!
Laura

My cats love their new Hound Heater Furnace.
Joan

I actually bought one of those heater/AC units (from someone else.) It cost me about $350 (maybe a little more, I can't remember). Despite the fact I treated it with TLC, the thing conked out after two years. I was not impressed. Plus, as I mentioned, I didn't even need the AC part. You've done a great job of segmenting the market and developing a sensible product.

Pat

Mike, I just received the my new Hound Heater Dog House Furnace. As good as the last one worked, this one is incredible!! Very accurate thermostat, just as easy to install and I love what the heat shields do. After I priced out what I paid for the previous model, which I was thrilled with, I am actually spending less and I think this one heats even better! You have got a real winner and I will be featuring it in an upcoming article in our dog club magazine!

Tom Johannsen, Colorado Springs

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I've looked everywhere trying to find a method of heating my kennel box's that doesn't break the bank and I can tell you that you have a real winner in my opinion superior to anything I've found. - Gerald Perkins

Thank you Mr. Hill for the great service and fast delivery of your great product and for the bonus bulbs that you sent with my order. I am using the 100 watt ceramic emitter in a cat house that I built which is 3X6X3 and when the temp is 30 it keeps the house at 70 which is much more than I had hoped for when I ordered it from you. The 150 fusion kept the house a little to warm here in Las Vegas but if in a colder climate would be perfect.

What a great company to do business with.

Thanks again, John M Ream

I have three Miniature Pinschers and an Italian Grayhound that have to be kenneled in the house during the day if I'm not home. Therefore, I built a 4'x4'x4' elevated doghouse for them with 2" of foam insulation in between the double walls, floor and ceiling. I installed your hound heater on one of the vertical walls and lined the ceiling with a sheet of tin to reflect the heat down. Even with a doggy door and a double paned plexi-glass window, the coldest I have seen it get inside is 50 degrees when it was about 5 below with a wind chill of of 20 below.

Sometimes I have a hard time getting them to come out of their private dog suana and come into the house!

Thanks for such a great product - it's a house and a life-saver! - Heather Adams

The Hound Heater I bought works great. I put a wireless thermometer sensor on the side of the doghouse oposite the heater and even though the temperature has dropped to 25 the doghouse stays around 50 to 60 degrees. My dog used to want to stay in all night but now she goes to the door and wants to go out at night and goes straight into the doghouse. I guess she likes her independence now. - Martin Combs

Mike,
I wanted to get back to you about your Fusion Heat elements. You gave me two last year to test, as you said,"you will have a spare". I want you to know that I have not needed the "spare" one. The first element lasted from December through March. I took it out as recommended and plan on putting it back in for the upcoming year!! Thanks for the great product! Jim H. Denver CO

Dear Mr. Hill,
Sorry this has taken so long but I am extremely happy to say that the Fusion bulb I used is awesome. It did exactly as you said. It gives off a tiny bit of light and warms my house up nicely. I have the spare but will be surprised if I need it at all, at least not this year. Smart move giving two elements with each order. I will be telling my buddies about your product. Gary B. Anoka , MN

Mike,
I bought a HH2 from you several years ago and wanted to let you know how much I like your product. I am placing an order for 3 more with those new Fusion heat elements. I figure I can get some early shopping done!! Thanks again! Harold D. W., Freeport, MI

Dear Mike..
What a superb heater. I have used one now for 3 winters, and it works great!!! My dog house is 3'w x 3'h x 4'long with 1" foam insulation on all sides. In the beginning of the winter months I use a 40 watt light bulb. Then when it gets below 40 deg. I use a 75 watt. What I like best is that my dog , a GSP can either lay right under the houndheater or at the other end, away from it, if it gets to warm. I also like that it is kind of a night light. I can easily see if the bulb is burned out so I can change it. The houndheater and an old blanket is the perfect combination...The installation was simple, it's up in the corner and out of the way so no wasted space..Hats Off..Great Product.

Thanks for setting me up with a Hound Heater Extreme this past weekend. My Lab has been enjoying up to 62 degree comfort in his outdoor kennel since I installed the heater. Currently it is 58 degrees inside the kennel yet only 12 degrees with a windchill of -4 outside. The kennel is roughly 30 cubic feet inside with insulated 2x6 construction from top to bottom and is built inside my garage with the kennel door also accessed from inside the garage to eliminate wind. Since the garage is not yet heated this is a great testimony to how your product works. I highly recommend it for MN winters! Darcy

Hi Mr. Hill,

Just wanted to touch bases with you once again and tell you how much I like the Hound Heater I bought for my beagles. It works great! This is really a product I have wished for for years but did not know existed. I always just stuck a lead light in the house but I really never was satisfied with it. I also want to thank you once again for your generous donation to New York Bowhunters Banquet.

Sincerely,
Mike Savage

Your instructions of plugging it into a GFCI outlet probably saved the dogs life.  I am very thankful I didn’t cut corners and replaced the outside outlet with one.  Anyhow, thank you again for your clear instructions and great heater.

I live in Minnesota and have been a dog owner most of my adult life.  I've had several retrievers over the years and have always been concerned about their comfort and health, especially in the winter.  When I built a new kennel back in 1995 I ran electricity to it so I could have heated water throughout the winter.  I was also hoping I would be able to find a decent dog house heater of some sort.

I'm a regular Cabela's customer (I spend way too much money there) and get the Drs. Foster and Smith catalog.  I also shop at Petco occasionally.  Each fall, as winter came closer, I would shop the pages of the Cabela's or the Foster and Smith catalog (and make a trip to Petco) looking for a dog house heater.  I have tried those mat heaters and they just don't do the job.  Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I lucked out and found your Hound Heater.  It works great.

I've got a good, fairly tight, well insulated dog house with a good tight door.  This morning it was about 5 below zero outside and it was 50 inside the dog house.  I have a standard 100 watt bulb in the heater and last night I noticed that there was a little sliver of light showing between the house and the roof.  Today I got some weather stripping and sealed that crack.  The dog has been in my house all afternoon and I just put him out around 8 pm.  Without the benefit of the heat the dog generates himself the house was a comfy 56 degrees and it is about 5 above zero at the moment.

Even Raven needs a Hound HeaterI'm heading for Arizona for January and can take comfort in knowing my dog will be safe and warm while I am gone.  Thanks for developing this great product.  I have no idea why Cabela's doesn't carry it. Tom Lee, Winona, MN

We set up one of the heaters for our old dog and the other for our cats. The cats think it is the best thing since sliced bread.

Got some of that aspen litter from Mills FF (small bag-$4.95) but they get it all over--probably drag it out with their fur. What was the name of the doors on your kennel. Do they sell the doors separately? Thanks again. Lyle and Renae Best - Rice, MN

What a great product !!  I just recently received the Hound Heater, and installed it in our kennel inside our garage (which is not heated).  Our temperatures in Northern Indiana have been hovering around 10-30 degrees. The heater works great, it creates a nice environment for our dog while we are away.  At night when the dog is inside the house, our outdoor cats go into the kennel to stay warm.  I feel it is a safe product, and have no fear of leaving it on while we're not at home.

Thanks, Kent Herriott -  Fort Wayne, Indiana

Mike,
Got the heat emitters today and they work great. I shipped the two bad ones back to you last Friday via USPS so you should have them in the next day or two. Also this heater works so well, I went to your website and ordered another Hound Heater II Ultimate.
Thanks again for backing up your product with no hassle service - it has been a pleasure.
Bill

"I received my Hound Heater yesterday and installed it today.  I had a commercial thermostat and attached it to that.  I have it set at 48 degrees.  What temperature would you suggest for the dogs.  They are Dalmatians, fairly short hair.  It works great with the 105 watt ceramic heater.  I installed it with the thumb screw down, making a vent up and down.  I could feel the heat coming out the top vent.  It will be a gradual heat and I guess that is best.  Believe it or not, it is not unusual for it to get to -5, -10 degrees at night here in late Jan-Feb. I've tried them all, mats, ceramic forced air heaters, etc.  but this is the best idea I have seen in years, no moving parts and nothing to clog up.  I plan to tell all my dog friends about it.  Most use a spot light but say the dogs don't like to go in the house due to the bright light.  This is great with the ceramic heat element, no light and plenty of heat... thanks again, Jim Ridgway"

"Last year I bought a mat heater for $90.00 and it lasted 1 1/2 seasons and now is shot. This thing looks like it will last forever!" John Carlton, MN Anoka Game Fair

"What a great idea you have and you built it right. It's easy to replace the bulb, strong and simple to install. I'll take two!!" Mike Jacobsen, Iowa State Fair

"I bought one from you last year and it still looks new! For the price, you can't beat it. Works great! My dog thanks you!"
Joe Timlin MN.

"This is the greatest, simplest idea I've ever seen. About time someone comes up with something that works and will last. Nice job Mike."

"I will sell as many of these for well pump houses as I will for dog houses. Man you built it right!" Swede, Hackensack Ace Hardware, MN.

"I can't believe you don't charge more for your Hound HeaterTM. They won't stay on the shelves!" Schtick Nagorski, MN.

"I need another Hound Heater.  You wouldn't believe it. My dogs are best of friends but they actually started fighting over the house with the Hound Heater in it!"  M. Bischoff,  Big Lake MN.

"Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that the house heater works great.  Keeps the chill out of the dog house and keeps him comfortable.  I have some friends that may also be interested." Anonymous
