- How does your new heater differ from the old model and why the price increase?
The new heater now has several differences from my previous model. First, it is powered by a non replaceable, extremely long life "Mica" heater. This technology is one of the most realiable heaters in the world. Second, I have built in a 100,000 cycle, very accurate, thermostat. No more wondering what temperature your pet's house is. Lastly, if you ordered the previous unit with the most reliable element (ceramic emitter) and the thermocube plus shipping charges, your total cost was well over $100.00. Top
- What size pet house can I put the new Hound Heater in?
The Hound Heater Dog House Furnace can easily heat a well insulated dog house up to 32 cubic feet. The beauty of the new heater is, because it is thermostaically controlled, it can go in a small house as well. Once the pre-set temperature has been reached it will turn off and on to keep your pet warm and dry.
*Very important! The Hound Heater must never be mounted on the ceiling. Top
- Can I use a HH in my Igloo style house?
Absolutely! The new Hound Heater will mount the same as it would in a square house. (see mounting in an Igloo style house) It is important that you use nuts, bolts and washers instead of screws for mounting. It may sit slightly crooked but will work very well. The Hound Heater back stays cool so there is no problem or worry about melting the plastic. It is important that you either use a Critter Cord or some other cord protector, such as steel conduit, to keep your pet from chewing it.

- What is a thermocube and how does it work?
A thermocube is a very simple plug in device that will turn the previous Hound Heater 1 or 2 ON and OFF depending on the outside temperature. (It is NOT necessary for the new Hound Heater Dog House Furnace.) It turns "on" when the outside temperature goes below 35° F and "off" when the outside temperature goes above 45° F. In order for the thermocube to properly function, it must be plugged into an outlet located in an unheated area outside of the doghouse. It has two outlet plugs so one thermocube can operate two Hound Heaters. Perfect for warm/cool climates or early fall - late spring conditions.

- Is there any assembly required with the Hound Heater?
Absolutely not! Simply follow the simple mounting instructions and plug in the heater.Top
- I don't have a good dog house, do you recommend any?
Yes, there are many commercial dog houses. Two of the best are by K-9 Kondo and Deer Creek.Top
- What is a Critter Cord Protector?
Remember, the Hound Heater was designed so the cord is not accessible to your pet. This is not always possible and the Critter Cord is a great way to deter your pet from chewing the cord. My dogs hate the Critter Cord. I can't even get them to pick it up.Top

I installed my new Hound Heater Dog House furnace but the house is not warming up?
I have gotten this question often and the answer is always quite simple. Every house should contain insulation and every house should have some kind of door. Doing this will eliminate the two kinds of heat loss that occur. One is conductive and the other is infiltration. The first one can best be described by thinking of holding a pop in the summer's heat, no can cooler. How long would the pop stay cold? The can cooler (insulation) stops the conductive loss from your hand to the beverage. The door or flap will trap the heat. Think of how your own house would feel if you left the front door open in the winter?
